My approach to leadership

I’ve had various leadership roles so far in my career, but am now in my first line management position which is making me think more specifically about the type of leader I am and want to be.

There are two things I’ve found myself saying to people recently.

  • How can I help or support you?
  • It’s my job to help remove barriers for you to do your work.

I see my job as one that supports, guides and mentors. Yes there are difficult conversations to have and managerial actions that need to be taken sometimes, but as a leader I want to serve and support my team and the organisation I work for.
